Workshops
Expanish has partnered with
local venues in Buenos Aires to offer special student activities in Buenos
Aires called workshops that supplement the language immersion
courses and, most importantly, offer contact with local Argentines. Flex
your linguistic and physical muscles while learning new fun skills outside
of formal classes!
Tango (Dancing): As the most famous creative
expression of Buenos Aires, we offer a wide range of tango classes for
first-time dancers to experts; all skill levels are welcome. Through
formal instruction and dance floor practice, instructors cover both
traditional steps and the latest improvisational techniques
Polo:
There is no better place in the world to
learn polo than in the country that raises the highest-quality horses
exclusively for the sport! Spend a day with the animal and sport that play
defining roles in typical Argentine culture. A full day at an estancia (traditional
Argentina ranch), the workshop includes polo classes in the morning and
afternoon, a large asado for lunch, and horseback riding or watching a
polo game in the evening. Students also have the option of staying the
night at the estancia.
Fileteado painting:
Fileteado porteño
is a popular and decorative art unique to Buenos Aires. Its stylized forms
of intense color are painted to appear three dimensional using shadowing
techniques. Flowers, ribbons, acanthus leaves, dragons and birds are
typical elements of the Fileteado repertoire, combined with phrases
and images of popular characters.
Photography: The primary objective of this
workshop is to provide you with hands-on technical photography experience
while familiarizing you with theoretical background. Examine the creation
of photographic art, study of composition, development, scripting, camera
operation and post-production. You create an independent project of
your choice in order to practically explore each of these themes.
